OUTDOOR TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES

Outdoor team building activities are a fantastic way to get out of the office, get some fresh air and have some fun with coworkers. Of course the Experience Team at Vancouver Mysteries is going to be quite biased when it comes to recommending outdoor activities in downtown Vancouver! 😉 However, we do have some recommendations for outdoor team building activities other than our own outdoor mystery games. Whether you are looking for creative ideas for outdoor team building or you are planning your next work social or staff party, here are the Experience Team’s top 5 picks:

5 Unique Outdoor Team Building Activities

  • Vancouver Food Tours

Foodie Tours: Get a Taste of the City

Vancouver Foodie Tours offers experiences in both Vancouver and Richmond. Take a team of up to 10 people on the Authentic Asian Eats tour in Richmond BC, home of the best Chinese food in North America according to the NY Times (and we agree!). The tour is 3 hours and runs daily at 10AM. Visit the Vancouver Foodie Tours website for more information about a private booking for your team. Members of our Experience Team have tried these tours and we recommend them! Some tours can also accommodate larger groups – check our their site for more information about team building activities.

  • East Van Brewery Crawl (and Run)

east van brewery crawl outdoor team buildingIs your team more interested in drink vs. food? It’s easy to organize your own poker run. Your team can explore local breweries while they stroll around East Van collecting playing cards to build a poker hand. There are so many breweries in East Van that it will be hard to pick just 5 for this game. Station someone at each stop to hand out one playing card to each member of your team – by the end of their beer crawl they will have enough cards for a poker hand. The best poker hand wins a prize (maybe a full growler of their choice to take home or perhaps a Vancouver Mysteries gift certificate!). Many breweries also have outdoor seating areas. Quite a few members of our Experience Team call East Van home, so it was easy to come up with these two routes:

    Brewery Crawls in East Vancouver

Strathcona/Clark Crawl (total walking time 25 minutes): 1. Strathcona Beer Company (great pizza!) 2. Luppolo Brewing (grab an ice cream cone from La Casa Gelato and eat it on the way to the next stop!) 3. Off the Rail 4. Superflux Beer Company 5. Container Brewing (Burdy Chicken food truck!).

Port City Crawl (total walking time 15 minutes): 1. Callister Brewing 2. Powell Brewery 3. Andina Brewing Company (try the ceviche!) 4. Odd Society Spirits (take a beer break and have a cocktail!) 5. Parallel 49 (a great place to end -make a reservation for a big group!).

  • Glenn - gay history tour vancouverDiversity and Inclusion: Walk the Walk

Forbidden Vancouver has 3 tours available for outdoor team building, including the Really Gay History Tour. This 2 – 2.5 hour tour is a fantastic complement to your organization’s company culture of diversity and inclusion. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to get to know a vibrant, fun and bold neighbourhood – the West End of Vancouver. Your group size must be at least 9 people, start times and dates are flexible. Visit the Forbidden Vancouver website for more information about private tours. • Picnic and Games

Combine both food and fun when you plan a picnic for your outdoor team building activity. Planning this day out is simple – you can have it catered or pick up classic picnic snacks (chips, veggie plate, charcuterie, watermelon wedges, etc). Don’t forget the games! Whether you choose board games, Twister, or lawn games like bocce or croquet you will have a lot of fun. Vancouver Mysteries also has a portable mystery game that is delivered in two suitcases that we can deliver to your picnic (weather permitting). The best thing about this team building activity is that you can do it anywhere you like in metro Vancouver. • Outdoor Team Building Activities in Downtown Vancouver

If you are looking for a fun outdoor team building activity in downtown Vancouver, we will most likely recommend our outdoor mystery games. There are 3 games to choose from: do you want to be spies, detectives or superheroes? Large groups compete in teams in a Mega Mystery (more than one game running simultaneously). Bookings available for up to 144 people but you actually only need 2 people to play so we can accommodate teams of any size. Bookings are for 2 hours and custom start/finish locations are available at nearby restaurants, offices and the convention centres. Book your private outdoor game here.

If you need help choosing an outdoor team building activity, our Experience Team is here to help. If we don’t have the right experience for you, we’ll try to recommend another one that works for your group size, location, interests and budget. You can reach us at 778-707-2962 or [email protected].
