Flexible Scheduling for Private Events of all Sizes – Whether you’re looking for a 100-person team-building event or a portable experience to play for a birthday party at your own home, we’ve got you covered! Vancouver Mysteries games, shows and other events are all available for private bookings. We can either block off one of our publicly available time slots just for you or we can book you in for your preferred date and time.

Vancouver Mysteries is a Rainbow Certified business made up of a diverse team of talented individuals, providing an inclusive environment for everyone who attends your event. As a diverse team led by a woman, we are very aware of the stereotypes around the mystery genre – our fresh perspective is reflected in our original storylines, our characters and our cast.
All of our experiences are “safe for work” rather than NSFW (for example: no graphic violence) and we do not tell the stories of real life murderers or murder victims (our murder victims are always fictitious, even if their stories are presented in the context of real Vancouver history). Instead of true crime, we are real fun. Instead of scaring our audience, we tend to hear laughter and our experiences encourage teamwork.
Private Outdoor Events
Outdoor Mystery Games in Downtown Vancouver
5 Games | 7 to 192 Players | 2 – 2.5 Hours
Choose from 5 different outdoor mystery games for your private event including one for groups with younger kids (ages 6 and up). Solve a murder in Gastown’s Crime in Downtown, complete a Secret Mission in the shopping district, explore scenic Coal Harbour with superhero quest Heroes and Villains, or become paranormal investigators on a Ghost Patrol in the city centre.
Single games are available for up to 48 players. Larger groups compete in a Mega Mystery (up to 192 players playing up to 4 different games simultaneously). Games usually start and end at the same location. Players are divided into teams of 6 players to compete against each other. Custom start/end locations at your office or downtown hotels, convention centres or other venues are available at no extra charge (some restrictions apply). Contact us for more information.

Private Murder Mystery Shows
Dinner, Drag, Drinks… and a Detective? Vancouver Mysteries creates original murder mysteries in Vancouver and beyond.
Interact with the suspects, solve a puzzle, collect clues and help our detective solve the murder! There are three different Murder is a Drag shows (so far!) – each one is a different chapter in the show series. They are standalone shows (you don’t need to see them in any particular order).

Murder is a Drag | Murder Mystery Immersive Theatre | 30 to 100 Guests | 2.5 Hours
We can bring this immersive theatre experience to almost any venue, let’s talk! If you need a venue for your private event, we can also connect you. Murder is a Drag is an immersive theatre experience. We bring the performers, puzzles and props. For smaller groups, we will need a sound system for the drag performances. For larger groups, we will need a sound system to connect microphones so everyone can hear the dialogue. We run these shows as ticketed events too – contact us about a buyout for a low-maintenance alternative to booking your own venue/caterers. The Case of the Hotel Detective
Table Top Mystery with Escape Room Style Challenges | 5 to 50 Players | 2 Hours
A murder mystery party game with escape room-style challenges (real locked boxes, puzzles, devices, clues are delivered to you in two suitcases). You provide the venue and our Experience Hosts arrive with everything you need to play, including suitcases full of evidence. Smaller groups play together to solve the murder. The Legend of the Gastown Gold
Table Top Mystery with Escape Room Style Challenges | 5 to 100 Players | 2 Hours
A mystery set in 1886 Vancouver using clues, artifacts and real historical photos with escape room-style challenges (real locked boxes, puzzles and clues are delivered to you in a wooden crate). You provide the venue and our Experience Hosts arrive with everything you need to play, including suitcases full of evidence. Role Playing Murder Mystery Game | 6 to 12 Players | 2 Hours
We have a classic murder mystery for 6 to 12 players that we can bring to your private event. Every player gets a character assigned to them, with motives and objectives. One character is the murderer! Players create alliances and betray each other while they gather clues to the mystery. This game is a pirate-themed murder mystery – you provide the venue and our Experience Hosts arrive with everything you need to play, including a treasure chest of pirate costumes and props! Live Game Show Experience | 10 to 200 Guests | 1 – 1.5 Hours
Unlike our other mystery games, this is a game show with mystery-themed categories instead of an actual mystery you need to solve. This game started as a popular virtual game when people were generally meeting virtually vs in-person. It is even more fun in person! Interactive Experience | 4 to 200 Guests | 1 – 1.5 Hours
Unlike our other live experiences, this mystery is fueled by the magic of creativity and inspiration. This activity was born at a beer festival in 2019 it pairs well with drinks and also provides hilarious dinner entertainment as some of your guests provide the circus entertainment. Magician | Interactive Close-Up Magic/Magic Show | 1 – 2 Hours
If you are looking to add some magic to your private event, choose one endorsed by Vancouver Mysteries. Whether you are looking to add a roving magician to an event or book a stage show, or some combination of these options, we’ve got you covered. A roving magician will entertain your tables or cocktail crowd with close-up magic. A stage show could mean one magician performing their act, a magic variety show or a theatre experience (magic incorporated into a scripted play). Contact us for more information.
Stephen Hamm | Theremin Workshop | Up to 35 Participants | 30 minutes to 2 Hours
Have you ever heard of the theremin? We think it’s the most mysterious instrument. Book Stephen Hamm to talk about its place in history and how it works. Participants will have an opportunity to try the theremin and perhaps even “jam” with Canada’s most interesting theremin musician, Stephen Hamm. The event will include song performances which can be extended or reduced to fit your time constraints. Contact us for more information.
Miniature Murder Mystery | 30 minutes or more
Our miniature murder mystery premiered at the DowntownVan BIA’s Summer Movie Nights for the outdoor screening of Knives Out. Participants wander around the house and look in all of the rooms and then they can cast their vote for the murderer. This is a great ice breaker – a fun way to engage a group of people into conversation and get them moving around a room! This activation can be brought to you for a short period of time (for example, during a cocktail hour or mixer) or can be rented for several days (a hotel lobby activation or interactive exhibit). Private Event Travel Fees
If the venue for your private event is more than 5km away from Mystery Headquarters (our admin office), we charge a fee to travel to you. Prices vary based on distance, how many team members we send and how much gear we have to haul. Once you let us know where we are going, we can provide you with a quote.
Pricing for all Budgets
Prices start at $245 for a private 7 player outdoor game and go up from there, contact us for details. A good rule for budgeting is $30-100/person for entertainment not including tax and tip. Let us know your budget and we’ll do our best to help you.
Virtual Games
3 Games | 6 to 200 Players | 1 – 2 Hours
Vancouver Mysteries has three virtual games available for private bookings and events – we have virtual versions of our role-playing murder mystery Black Skull and our trivia game show Super Trivia, as well as our circus-themed virtual party game Big Top Werewolf. These games are only available at Vancouver Mysteries – they are fully-hosted experiences. We meet you in a Zoom room to explain how to play and interact with your group throughout the experience. At the end we announce winners and take photos of everyone to send to you. Vancouver Mysteries virtual experiences earned us a Digital Transformation award in 2022 from the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. They are a fun way to gather remote teams for some game time, a virtual happy hour, or liven up a day of meetings.
