CITY ADVENTURES – DETECTIVE FOR A DAY
Have you ever wanted to be homicide detective or a CSI (crime scene investigator)? Here’s a day trip in downtown Vancouver that let’s you solve a murder and explore the darker side of city history.
Earn Your Detective Badge – Prove you have what it takes by investigating a cold case on the streets of Gastown with Vancouver Mysteries’ outdoor escape game Crime In Downtown.
This murder mystery begins and ends near Waterfront Station – you will be met by a detective who will assign you with your cold case and give you everything you need to solve the murder (evidence bag, case file, map, tools and more). Sign up in teams of 2 to 6 players here or book a private game for larger groups here.

Learn about the Detective Life – Visit the Vancouver Police Museum to be immersed in the tools, stories and history of detective work in Vancouver. Visit the city’s old morgue, view confiscated weapons and learn about Vancouver’s place in the history of forensics.
Check their website for current exhibits, accessibility information and hours of operation.

Keep the mystery theme going by heading over to the Alibi Room (157 Alexander Street) after your museum visit! The Alibi Room made it’s name as a social hub for fans of craft beer but they also have a great cocktail and wine list and their menu offers a wide range of options (including vegan and vegetarian menu items). Warning: this place can get busy! Happy hour menu | Make your reservation for the Alibi Room here.

Planning Your Detective Day
11AM Play Outdoor Escape Game Crime In Downtown – If you plan to hit the streets of Gastown with our murder mystery Crime In Downtown first, we recommend you choose the daily 11AM time slot. You can sign up in teams of 2 to 6 players. Next, watch for an email with instructions for where to meet the detective who will bring you the case files and everything else you need to work the cold case murder investigation. Note: we also have time slots later in the afternoon and evening if you prefer to visit the museum and/or the Alibi Room first but definitely book ahead if you have a specific start time in mind – your options will be limited if you try to book last minute. There is a two hour limit for this experience so you will be on your way to your next stop two hours after the start time (possibly earlier, depending on your detective skills).
1PM The Vancouver Police Museum – Detectives like to read the fine print and observe every detail, so we recomnend you allow yourself one and half to two hours to explore the museum. Important: the Police Museum is not open seven days a week – plan ahead and check their website for hours of operation.
3PM Happy Hour – Many happy hours start at 3PM in Vancouver so this is great timing to take a break and chat about your adventures on you Detective For a Day day trip. The Alibi Room is a 5 minute walk from the Vancouver Police Museum.
If you visit the Vancouver Police Museum first and then play our detective game, we recommend Stock and Supply Restaurant (55o West Hastings Street) – it’s very close to the end location of Vancouver Mysteries game Crime in Downtown and they also give you 15% off regular menu items (not alcohol or happy hour) if you show them your Vancouver Mysteries booking confirmation.
PS Vancouver Mysteries and the Vancouver Police Museum are also available for private bookings for larger groups!
