Big News about Glimmer Rouge
Subscribers to the Vancouver Mysteries newsletter may recall our invitation for you to head over to The Junction to vote Glimmer Rouge for Empress earlier this year. Update: she won!
If you have attended any Murder is a Drag show since January 2025, there is a very good chance you have seen Glimmer Rouge perform. Glimmer Rouge joined the Vancouver Mysteries Murder is a Drag Ensemble for our first year in the Dine Out Vancouver Festival (2025) and has now appeared in all four chapters in the Murder is a Drag Series.
Vancouver Mysteries will be celebrating Glimmer Rouge and all of the great work she does for the community all year by inviting the nonprofit organization behind these coronations, the DMS (Dogwood Monarchist Society) to raise money at future Murder is a Drag events.
The Dogwood Monarchist Society of Vancouver (DMS Vancouver)
The Dogwood Monarchist Society of Vancouver (DMS Vancouver) is a long-standing community-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, uplifting, and advocating for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community across British Columbia. While rooted in celebration, performance, and tradition, the true heart of DMS Vancouver lies in its charitable impact, community partnerships, and commitment to creating meaningful change through fundraising, visibility, and direct support initiatives.
For decades, DMS Vancouver has brought together performers, volunteers, community leaders, and supporters to raise critical funds for organizations that provide life-changing services to vulnerable and underserved individuals. Through shows, galas, campaigns, and grassroots fundraising efforts, the organization has built a legacy of giving back while fostering safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces for all community members.
During the 54th Reign, DMS Vancouver is proud to focus its charitable efforts on four important beneficiary organizations whose work directly impacts the lives of people throughout our region:
LOCALS SUPPORTING LOCALS
Friends For Life Society, which provides nutritional support, wellness programs, and essential services to individuals living with serious illnesses, including HIV/AIDS and cancer.
A Loving Spoonful, which delivers nutritious meals and support to individuals and families living with HIV and other life-threatening illnesses throughout Metro Vancouver.
Living With Pride Foundation, which works to strengthen and support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community through advocacy, visibility, education, and community-building initiatives.
The Boxx Barr Bursary, DMS Vancouver’s in-house bursary initiative, which helps provide financial support and educational opportunities to members of the community seeking to further their personal, academic, artistic, or professional development.
Beyond fundraising totals, DMS Vancouver’s impact is measured through connection, visibility, volunteerism, and the creation of spaces where people feel seen, celebrated, and supported. The organization believes community care extends beyond financial contributions alone. It includes mentorship, advocacy, collaboration, and the creation of spaces where queer individuals across generations can thrive authentically.
Through every event, performance, partnership, and campaign, DMS Vancouver remains committed to strengthening community bonds, supporting charitable organizations doing essential work, and building a future rooted in inclusion, compassion, and pride.

- volunteers from Friends For Life run licensed 50/50 draws at some of our shows
- purchase Glimmer Rouge stickers and other merchandise at the merch table to raise funds for DMS
