The Mystery: Chapter 2 Wake the Dead
The second murder mystery in the Murder is a Drag series created by Vancouver Mysteries.
You’ve gathered to celebrate the life of a recently deceased millionaire (please wear black!) so you expect some drama: a widow, the ex wife, the spoiled son and the business manager are there as guests. Also on the guest list: a murderer! Can you solve the mystery? The suspects and the detective are drag performers (watch for clues to be revealed during their songs!). You don’t need to watch the shows in any order – each one is a standalone story.
The Snacks: The Friends For Life Society kitchen will have snacks available for this special show, look for the options to pre-order them when you purchase your tickets. Vegan, plant-based and gluten-free options are available. Sorry, no substitutions.

- Show Times – This show takes place inside a historic home in Vancouver’s West End (built in 1895). Choose a timed entry of 7PM, 7:30PM or 9:30PM.
- Availability – We have adapted our Murder is a Drag show to take place inside a house instead of a theatre for one night only.
- Location – a haunted heritage home in a secret location in Vancouver’s West End, a short walk from Robson Street. You will receive the exact address by email close to the event date.
- The price for this special event is $50 per person (+fee & taxes). Each ticket includes a seat for the performance (general admission), a 90 minute murder mystery show with 4 musical drag performances, puzzles to solve and a chance to win prizes if you guess the killer correctly! Partial proceeds of each ticket also go to the Friends for Life Society.
- Pre-Orders: we recommend you pre-order your snacks – if you miss this opportunity during your ticket purchase please send us an email or text with your order at least 3 days before the event. There may be some snacks available for purchase on-site but this will be limited. There is, however, a bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase. 100% of the proceeds from all food and drink sales goes to the Friends for Life Society.
- Duration – total show time is 90 minutes but the doors open one hour before the show begins and there are photo opportunities with the cast after the show (plan to arrive before show time to get good seats and/or or get a role in the show).
- Capacity – there are only 38 seats available for each time slot and they are first come, first serve.
- Dietary Restrictions/Allergies – This special menu is offered by the Friends for Life Society kitchen, a kitchen that uses WHEAT, EGGS, TREE NUTS, and MILK. If you have concerns or questions about the menu items please contact [email protected]
- Accessiblity – the venue for this event is accessible with ramps and an elevator. There are loud musical performances as well as quieter discussions, low lighting in the room and some puzzles require fine motor skills or ability to read fine print. If anyone in your party has concerns about the lighting, volume levels, vision or fine motor skills required please contact us.
- This venue is 19+. Please have your ID ready.
How Does it Work?
The doors opens one hour before the show starts – Your chances of being offered a role in the mystery (a line to say, a prop to use, etc) are better if you get there when doors open.
This is a collaborative and social experience – you may be seated with other people. Guests can choose to solve the mystery together as a team or on their own, it’s up to you. If you want to be seated together, it is best to arrive together. This special event taking place in a house has limited seating – if you arrive last, it may be standing room only but you’ll have an opportunity to find a seat during intermissions or the next act.
You don’t have to participate, you can just watch the show – if you just want to watch the show just let us know when you arrive (also avoid choosing seats along the aisles).
There are puzzles to solve – this is a Vancouver Mysteries experience after all! During the first intermission your table will receive a puzzle to solve – it will reveal an important clue to the mystery!
Costumes are encouraged (but optional) – You are guests at a funeral so black attire is appropriate. Large hats, veils, evening gowns or just regular street clothes are also acceptable. Wear whatever you want :)
Can you pick the murderer? During a very short 2nd intermission everyone has a chance to vote for the suspect they think is the murderer.
